Reel Charters prides itself to be the best charter operation on the Kapiti coast. Come and meet Skipper Dave Brosnahan, a friendly fisherman that offers fishing trips to cater to all sorts of fishos, from families with kids to the serious fisherman. He’ll meet you in Waikanae Beach and take you to explore the area’s bountiful inshore and offshore waters. In addition to fishing, you can also enjoy sightseeing around Kapiti Island, New Zealand’s beautiful nature reserve.
Your trip will take place on a 24’ McLay aluminum fishing boat that can take up to 5 fishos. The boat is equipped with the latest Simrad electronics and powered by a 254 HP Yamaha outboard v6 engine. It also features a portable toilet, bed, an esky, outriggers, and a livewell.
The species you’ll be chasing include Hapuka, Tarakihi, Pink Snapper, Striped Marlin, Albacore and Bluefin Tuna, as well as Kingfish. Tuna fishing is available in the summer months. When chasing Kingfish, you’ll use jigs and live bait. For Hapuka and Terakihi, you and the skipper will be deep sea dropping. There are other techniques you can use as well, such as spearfishing.
Skipper Dave supplies you with all the fishing tackle, bait, and licenses. Just bring some nibble food and drinks before you come aboard and you’ll be set to go. For an extra cost, you can also get lunch.
