I purchased this trip for my husband and grandson. They are still talking about the wonderful time they had. We highly recommended this trip to others who are searching. The pre-trip communication was excellent and all questions answered. My grandson wanted to catch a shark and he did along with several other fish 🐠! They can’t wait to book another fishing trip with Captain Mike! This fishing trip was definitely the highlight of their holiday weekend in Galveston!

I paid for 4 but only three made it out.  I was going to cancel the trip and only be out the deposit but figured the captain would have had someone else booked so we went ahead and showed up, didn’t feel right leaving him hanging.  When arriving, I told him there were only going to be 3 of us thinking he would only charge for the 3 that showed up but he charged the full price and said if we would have booked direct and not through Fishing Booker he would have.  I didn’t think that was right but stayed optimistic that we would have a good time.  I don’t know what the fishing appearance standards are but the captain was not up to par with previous fishing guides I have been with, just looked sloppy.  We went out and caught bait, while he was baiting the hooks he had is moving the hooks to him over one another and behind each other coming close to each others legs, didn’t seem very safe.  After the bait was caught, I thought we were going to be fishing more in the bay but we went straight to the jetties to only have all three of us getting snagged on our first casts.  Water was really rough on the side we were on and my boys were watching the boats on the other side of the jetties catching fish.  I was telling my boys he must know where the big fish are that’s why we were on that side.  Captain said the current was too strong so we went out to the channel to catch shark.  I hooked something big only to fight it for a bit then the reel broke, fish lost.  Caught two small sharks after that and had to head in because both of my boys got sick.  I really wanted this trip to work out since one of my boys was getting ready to leave to basic training but I guess that’s the way it goes.  I know I said I wanted to catch some trout and reds but I guess I should have asked more questions and reiterated what I wanted.  I understand my boys got sick and we had to cut it short but this fishing experience is one I want to forget.  I hope this review helps everyone involved improve on communication and overall fishing experience for everyone.  I wish the Captain all the best and hope he has success going forward.

Been wanting to do this for years and so sad we waited this long. We had a wonderful time fishing with Mike and Billy on an incredible boat. Caught several of three different kinds of fish, larger than anything we ever caught before in Minnesota, including two sharks. My sons, wife and I were so happy. Mike is a great captain, host, and brilliant deep sea fisherman. He’ll make it fun and worth every penny. Don’t wait. Book now.

Had to put my boat in the shop for maintenance and was having fishing withdrawal, so a friend recommended Line Check charters.. went out with Eric Thursday morning and had a great time! Even though the weather wasn’t cooperating and neither were the fish that day. We got into a good school of fish mixed with trout and Spanish mackerel.. had fun catching both on top water plugs and live bait,  caught several undersized trout and were able to put a few keeper trout in the boat along with a very nice keeper spanish.. we ran away from the rain to another spot and put a nice reddish in the boat along with a nice size Bonnet head shark. I’m not one to typically keep shark but Eric told me Bonnet shark are the best eating, so he bled it out and fileted it up for me along with all the other fish. Had a great time and learned a few things and definitely recommend going out with these guys! I’ve been on several guided bay trips in galveston the last few years and Line Check has certainly impressed me the most!!

We showed up to the docks around 5:30 AM, Captain Eric was ready to roll. We immediately set out to catch some live bait. My boys and I proceeded to catch a little over a dozen small trout in about 15 minutes, he knew all the right spots. My boys were really excited about trying to catch some sharks, and captain Eric knew exactly where to go. Once we headed out into the deeper waters, it was all hands on deck. We didn’t have the lines in the water more than 10 minutes before shark after shark was hitting the lines. Black tip, sand bar, and a rare silky. Captain Eric put us right on the money and didn’t stop for the entire trip. 4 hours was all we could handle. If you’re looking for a guide, look no further.
